Me and My Shadow Travel Down the Road Alone   Leave a comment

“Not I, nor anyone else can travel that road for you.
You must travel it by yourself.
It is not far. It is within reach.
Perhaps you have been on it since you were born, and did not know.
Perhaps it is everywhere – on water and land.”
― Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass

And so this leaf, so all alone, with none but its shadow to keep it company travel down the well-worn road to find a joy that is its alone. I can not travel where it goes, I can only record its passage. Travel on safely, little leaf. travel on.
